Decide by workflow

  • Perstat fits when you want uptime monitoring, on-call, status communication, and one reviewable availability record, with an EU control plane operated by a German company.

  • Better Stack fits when deep log tooling, broader telemetry, its broader MCP/API surface, or the published one-second heartbeat interval matter more than Perstat’s narrower availability workflow.

  • Evidence. Perstat adds attributed, reversible exclusion windows to its curated availability record. Better Stack offers live reports, filters, streamed CSV, and SLA and incident analytics alongside its broader observability and log tooling.

  • Jurisdiction. Perstat is a German GmbH with an EU control plane, and Better Stack operates under a US corporate entity. If US CLOUD Act exposure is on your procurement checklist, confirm each vendor’s corporate structure and data residency directly. Ours is stated on the security page.

  • Scope. Better Stack spans logs and telemetry. Perstat focuses on uptime, status, incident response, and the records they produce. It has no APM and no log management, by design.

Figures reviewed 2026-08-27 from Better Stack’s official pricing, terms, reporting, locations, and MCP pages. Their prices are in USD as listed, ours in EUR, both net. Their heartbeat resolution and unlimited-alert wording are quoted claims from that page, not tested by us.

The table shows where Better Stack is ahead: default confirmation from at least 3 of 4 locations, heartbeat resolution, reporting breadth, automation surface, and log tooling.

Test the workflow in parallel

Perstat currently imports neither configuration nor history from other products. Set up the required monitors in Perstat. Export and archive any history you need before you switch off the old system.

  1. Monitor one representative endpoint in both products, matching the interval and regions as closely as their plans allow.
  2. Keep the existing notification path active while Perstat runs through a representative on-call window. Use a controlled test endpoint for a planned alert.
  3. Compare incident start and recovery, acknowledgment, status publication, and the resulting record. Keep the log workflow separate if your team still needs it.

Automatic incidents and acknowledgment are available on every plan. Testing an on-call rotation and phone escalation requires Sentinel or above.

Set up the first check and check the plan limits. When you are ready, start monitoring free.
